Frida Kahlo's work hits the streets

Mexican museums Diego Rivera Anahuacalli, Frida Kahlo and Dolores Olmedo organize Frida Kahlo extramuros, a touring exhibition that features pictures of the artist and that can be seen in the Galerías Atizapan of Zaragoza in the Mexico State until August 18.

Afterwards, the exhibition will travel to other malls in the country -up to 14- with the aim of bringing art to citizens and invite them to visit the museums that are part of cultural and the artistic heritage of the country.

The centres have selected pieces from their collections that summarize the biography of Frida, with photographs and paintings of her ancestors, her childhood in Coyoacán and her friends.

Among the paintings on display, visitors can see La columna rota, Viva la vida, Las apariencias engañan, Hospital Henry Ford, Autorretrato con changuito y Mi nana y yo

The exhibition also shows a selection of photographs from the Casa Azul collection like the portraits of Guillermo Kahlo and Matilde Calderón’s wedding -Frida's parents- as well as images from the painter taken by the photographer Tina Modotti.
